Curriculum
The International Institute on Collaboration provides the following coursework. All three courses are accessible to both members and non-members.
the Life cycle
of
collaboration
The workshop series to train how we better design and lead more impactful and effective collaborations.
Time: 6-8 hours
Space: In person and/or virtual
Skill level: Moderate - High
The Life Cycle of Collaboration is our collaborative framework. The course is a space where we learn the framework and become better at designing and leading intentional collaborations. In this work, we examine why the five Building Blocks of Collaboration (transformational leadership, facilitation, conflict resolution, self awareness, and friendliness to collaborate) are so important to our collaborations. We will discuss and practice using these skills to design, manage, and participate in more impactful collaborations. The life cycle begins when everything is possible and we empower idea holders. It ends when deliverables are complete in a clean, pretty package and the cycle can begin again. Participants will finish this series curious and comfortable about their intentional collaborations while containing new insight and tools for how they show up as leaders in those teams and work.
Objectives:
Objective #1: Deconstruct and slow down collaborations.
Objective #2: Learn a collaboration model and use it to lead & design more impactful and effective collaborations.
Objective #3: Utilize and further build transformational leadership, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills in collaborations.

Get ready to tap into your creativity as we embark on a journey of collective exploration. This hour-and-a-half workshop is your opportunity to savor life, enjoy each other's company, and express your authentic self. Let's make art, memories, and connections!
deconstructing Collaboration
A workshop focused on intentionally slowing down the collaborative process, gaining a deeper understanding of, and enhancing our overall relationship with collaboration.
Time: 2.5 hours
Space: In person and/or virtual
Skill level: Moderate
This workshop serves as a laboratory experience, providing a platform for meaningful conversations and practical exercises aimed at deliberately slowing down formal collaborative processes. The focus is on uncovering opportunities to lead and design more impactful and effective collaborations. By delving into lessons derived from a universally prevalent unintentional collaboration, participants gain insights applicable to intentional collaborations.
The exploration also cultivates awareness of the transformational leadership, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills essential for creating an environment that nurtures trust, agency, support, and transformative change beyond predefined expectations.
Learning Objectives:
Objective #1: To cultivate a more familiar and comfortable relationship with collaboration, aligning it with our daily experiences.
Objective #2: To slow down how we design and lead intentional collaborations in the workplace while highlighting ways build systems that allow focus on the collaboration.
Objective #3: To apply skills to important moments in our Intentional Collaboration.
